About US and our journey toward rv'ing

Our Rig Journey

We didn’t set out to become RV people. We didn’t even really know what “RVing” was when we got started. We thought we just wanted to camp. It all began with a simple itch to slow down, spend more time together, and explore different parts of this vast country. We’re a New England family who travels part-time — whenever we can squeeze it in — in our 2025 30' Airstream Flying Cloud.

Eric’s an airline captain, so he’s no stranger to travel. Alisha’s an artist and designer who decided that going back to college full-time while raising two active boys and chasing creative projects was totally on the table. Bradley and Bennett, our busy and endlessly curious kids, are heading into 8th and 5th grade. They bring plenty of energy, questions, and shenanigans to every campground. Dusty (our sweet 15-year-old Shih Tzu) and Dexter (age 3) round out the crew.

Our first setup wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was cool — a rooftop tent on top of Alisha’s old ML350. Fun in theory, not so great in reality with two kids and a senior dog. We quickly realized the entire space was about the size of a king bed, which works great for a couple… but not for a family of four. Climbing up and down a ladder in the middle of the night to pee? Also not ideal, lol.

So, we upgraded to an OPUS OP-15 hybrid trailer, dreaming of off-grid adventures — crossing streams, boondocking in the wilderness, living wild. It looked amazing and handled beautifully, but remote camping spots were harder to find in New England than we expected. Towing with a Rivian electric truck also added a layer of stress because the charging network in our region just wasn’t where we thought it would be by 2025, and it seriously limited where we could go — especially in northern Maine, which was a bummer because there’s so much to explore up there.

After 15 months and one unforgettable trip to Virginia, we sold the OPUS in fall 2024 and picked up our 2025 Airstream Flying Cloud. We also swapped the Rivian for a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax — finally giving us the towing range and reliability we needed. Our first big haul? A 4,000-mile round trip from New England to Florida. It was smooth, comfortable, and exactly what we’d hoped for. (You can catch that trip in Episode 3 on our YouTube channel!)

A Riveting Adventure started as a digital journal — a time capsule of sorts to remember the little things. The idea that our children’s children’s children might someday watch these videos and get a sense of our personalities, humor, and life in this chapter is honestly kind of wild. We try to put a fun spin on everyday moments and highlight the humor in real life. Our focus is always on bringing joy, finding laughter, and staying positive — even when life throws curveballs.

We also travel as a family with a child with autism, which brings its own challenges and beauty. What we thought would be “camping” eventually turned into RVing — our home on wheels — which gives us more flexibility than hotels and helps us actually experience the places we visit. Navigating schedules, food aversions, and sensory needs adds a whole new layer to our adventures, but we’re determined to keep exploring and making memories as a family, no matter the ups and downs.

Our YouTube channel is brand new, but something we’re incredibly proud of. Each video takes about 40 hours to edit (we’re working on speeding that up!), and while Alisha’s OCD/perfectionism can sometimes cause delays, we’re learning how to balance quality and consistency. We can feel this channel growing into something meaningful — we’re pouring heart and time into it, and we hope it brings joy, laughter, and inspiration to anyone who needs a reminder that they, too, can follow their bliss.

We’re figuring it out as we go — and that’s kind of the point. Thanks for riding along. We’re really glad you’re here.
